How Can High Blood Pressure Be Treated?

I took my dose of generic norvasc almost four hours late today. And my blood pressure is reading 170/110. I started this medication 6 days ago and it has been about 6 hours since I took my last pill. I am concerned because my BP readings have remained this high for over an hour. I took a low dose aspirin about a half hour ago but no change in BP. Should I go to the hospital?

Hello,

Sometimes the blood pressure values can go higher than normal and generally there is no need to rush to the hospital if you don't have any other symptoms related to it like headache, nausea, vision changes, chest pain, heart racing, neurological sings like weakness or numbness, etc.

If you experience any of these symptoms while you are having high blood pressure you will need to see your doctor as soon as possible (which generally is very rarely the case). If you are not experiencing any of the above symptoms then try to relax and the next day or so you can see your doctor if the values continue to be high.

I hope I have answered to your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Kind regards,
