How Can High Fever Along With Sore Throat And Fatigue Be Treated?
My 18yr old son has had fever 102 x3days, fine rash on trunk of body, general malaise, mild sore throat, excess salivation - non-productive heaving began this evening. He is now tachycardic bpm 125-136. spo2 90%. He began Keflex 500mg this AM - has had 2 doses. His temperature went down to 99.9 for an hour today with the use of NSAIDs but quickly returns to 102. Recommendations?
As per your clinical history is concerned do a CBC test of blood to check if fever is viral or bacterial in origin and in my guessing it might be a viral infection so take a full course of antiviral like Acyclovir and for fever take Paracetamol.
Do sponging with water every 2 hours and never allow body temperature to go above 102°F (38.8°C). Regarding tachycardia visit a local doctor and confirm it, if not done so far and he will carry a detailed physical examination.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Uday Nath Sahoo
