How Can High Fever Along With Vomiting Be Treated?

My almost 6 year old has a fever(101-103) and has been throwing up for the past day. he has not urinated all day and doesn t seem to want to drink (has been throwing most things up). My husband also says he thinks his pulse is very fast 125-135. I think he is breating heavily, but does not seem congested. Should we be concerned?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

It seems your son has contracted the stomach flu because of which he is having fever and vomiting. If he is not passing urine, it means he is dehydrated which is not a good sign. Since he is not able to take fluids orally, he will have to take IV rehydration therapy for which he needs to get admitted in a hospital. I would advise you to take him to an emergency room as soon as possible as further delay may deteriorate his health.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nazma.amman
