How Can Hip Pain Be Reduced?

A friend of mine currently has extreme pain in her right hip. She is an 18 year old female and we think its inflamed or something but aren t sure. She says it hurts to move, breathe, touch, etc and its swollen. She is icing it but its preventing her from sleeping or even getting up for an ibuprofen or anything. Is there anything she can do to reduce the pain so she can at least get to sleep?

Hi,

The location and movement of a pain gives clues as to what is going on and in a joint and inflamed would imply an inflamed joint. cannot say in your particular case, but generally, anti-inflammatories. If there isn't a good reason why it occurred, infection or other serious causes need to be checked out.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
