How Can Hoarseness Be Treated?

My voice box doesn’t open on the right side like it should all the time. They have put a light down my throat and I can see it also. Normally every winter I have really bad sinus infections and I cough continuously for months at a time and I assumed that that was the reason but I haven’t been sick this winter. I’m drinking alkaline based water and having no caffeine or coffee or any citrus. Any suggestions as to what I can do to make it work again. I’m tired of a raspy voice. I should also say that the Inside of my mouth and tongue is very sore every time any type of acidic item touches it and stays that way for days. Thanks so much.

Hello,

You have symptoms of hoarseness which is mainly due to swelling or growths on the vocal cords, could be due to high pitch voice and respiratory infection leading to laryngitis.

I would suggest you to take steam inhalation only daily basis as it will soothe vocal cords. Avoid intake of cold carbonated beverages and intake of outside of food. Avoid raising voice frequently and take honey in lukewarm water. If symptoms keeps on persisting visit ENT specialist once and get laryngoscopy done and go for complete blood picture to rule out infections, x-ray chest to see lung-related causes. Start treatment once proper diagnosis is made.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
