How Can Hypertension Along With Severe Cough Be Treated?

Hi I have high blood pressure and suffering with a bronchial cough at the moment. Is there any remedies I can take to sooth this and be able to get a good nights sleep. Also are there any cold and flu remedies that can be taken? It needs to be a uk based product.

Hello,

There are many medications for hypertension and first you will need to have some checks to try to find if there is a cause for the hypertension and also rule out diabetes and other conditions related to hypertension. So some tests like CBC, creatinine, electrolytes, ECG, ALT, AST, urinalysis, fasting blood glucose and lipids are needed. After the results of the test the doctor will decide which of the many blood pressure medications is suitable for you.

As for cough just be aware that many over the counter drugs for cough may worsen the high blood pressure so try to make sure before you use them. Generally cough can be smoothed with guaifenessin based cough products and if it is just dry cough without secretions some codeine for a few days can be tried.
In the meanwhile you will need to drink plenty, do some nasal lavage with saline solution and if no better in a few days or any worsening please see your doctor to examine your lungs and rule out lung infection.

I hope I have answered to your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
