How Can Hypertension And Swelling In The Ankles Be Treated?

I have been taking my BP for 9 mths--I took Losartan for 2 months with nothing but variations. I have been taking a tincture of Hawthorn Berry for nearly 6 months. The result is high variability as with Losartan but it is a little lower. Went to Pulmonary Rehab today for orientation and BP measured 180/108. I cannot participate with this HBP. My doctor has been aware, prescribing, and following this 9 month process. I do not like taking pharmaceuticals but I haveto do something different. I am having lots of swelling in my ankles, should I ask my doctor to consider a presc diuretic?? YYYY@YYYY

High blood pressure managed by steps :

First of all you need a healthy lifestyle which includes sport, low salt and low fat food. The second step is the antihypertensive drugs , usually we start by one type of drug with lowest dose than we increase the dose than we start association with another type of antihypertensive drug until we reach the result that we want. I think your treatment need to be more organised. For diuretics you may need it as you have high blood pressure and swelling. But I would like to mention that there are other causes for leg swelling including knee arthrosis especially if you are overweight. So consult your doctor to control your blood pressure as soon as possible.
