How Can Hypertension Be Treated While Suffering From Congestive Heart Failure?

mom has congestive heart failure - she takes carvedilol and hydralazine for high blood pressure - she takes hydrocodone for back pain and adavan for anxiety - she was recently put on the lowest dose of fentanyl patch to assist with back pain - she was taken off amlodipine recently due to water retension - blood pressure was 240/100 today - she is 86 and has type 2 diabetes but that is under control - doctor said she can increase dose of fentanyl patch or take more hydrocodone to bring blood pressure down - before fentanyl patch 2 weeks afo her pressure was approx 150/80 - what should we do ?

Hello dear, welcome to Ask a doctor service. I read your query and here is my advice.
I don't think fentanyl and hydrocodone have anti hypertensive effects . They are narcotics pain killers.
Maybe you should increase dosage of carvedilol and hydralazine.
