How Can Hypertension Be Treated?

I have been recently diagnosed with a bp of 184/120..earlier this morning the highest reading, most recently 147/87 about an hour ago. I was taking hydroclorizide 25m and asked the doc.to up to 50m instead onof giving me another med. She told me she would but seriously recommended I take Alactone (another diuretic),not sure I spelled it correctly. Do not want yo take another....How would that mixture be...two diuretics?
