How Can Hypertension Be Treated?

I drink whisky twice a week over the weekend only, 3-4 shots and I have just been diagonised with an onset or early stage of hypertension Should I stop drinking whisky or how much can I still take ? I am 63 years old exercise regularly (brisk walking 3-4 kilometers at three times a week) eat sensibly with lost of fruits and vegetables, no sugar in tea/ coffee, very little carbohydrates, I use more of processed chilies than salt and do not add salt to my food Regards

I can certainly understand your concern towards your blood pressure , there is a possibility that alcohol causes rise in blood pressure levels, but your pattern of drinking is fine, but try to reduce even that quantity

im glad that you are following healthy life style, I would suggest you to check your blood pressure in two more occasions before going for any treatment, if it is still high, you can start on atenelol with minimum initial dose.
