How Can Hypothyroidism Be Treated?

I'm on levothyroxine. 0.05mg. But I still have all the symptoms of hypothyroidism. My Dr tells me my blood work is in normal range, so he will not up my dosage. Is the blood test completely accurate, and could all my symptoms alone be reason enough to up my dosage.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Since how long you are taking the levothyroxin 0.05mg or 50 micrograms?

It will take time to normalize the symptoms. To reduce the weight, you have to do regular exercises.

Or, you are using wrong dosage. Repeat the test after one month of usage of levothyroxin, if TSH levels normalize then the dose is correct and you have to use the same. If TSH levels are still high, you have to increase the dose and vice versa.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Siddartha
