How Can Indigestion Be Treated?

I am just wondering how it is possible to have indigestion but no acid reflux or heartburn. I had an endoscopy that showed no reflux but I have suffered many years with indigestion. Do you think my terrible diet and being overweight could be the cause and what types of food are helpful for this condition.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Thanks for your query on HCM

"As"per your clinical history is concerned please follow like this to prevent indigestion-

1)Try to eat smaller, more frequent meals. Chew your food slowly and thoroughly.

2)Try to avoid fatty and spicy foods, processed foods, carbonated beverages, caffeine, alcohol and smoking etc

3)Try to maintain a healthy weight. Excess pounds put pressure on your abdomen, pushing up your stomach and causing acid to back up into your esophagus.

4)Try to do exercise regularly. Exercise helps you keep off extra weight and promotes better digestion.

5)Try to manage stress. Create a calm environment at mealtime. Practice relaxation techniques, such as deep breathing, meditation or yoga. Get plenty of sleep.

6)Take any painkiller medications prescribed by your Doctor with food or with a PPI like [Pantoprazole].

Hope that helps
