How Can Infected Blisters On The Right Arm Be Treated?

I live in NJ and I recently mowed my lawn and pulled a few weeds/poison something. My right arm has a blistery/oozing rash, located in the middle on top of my elbow. I used 40% Zinc rash cream to kill the itch, but it keeps dripping a dark yellowish liquid. should I go to the ER. Do I possibly need steroids or something of the like? Thanks, Really grossed-out in Trenton,NJ

Hello
Welcome to health care magic.

Fluid filled blister with rash indicates secondary bacterial infection of skin.

If I were your treating doctor,I would recommend,
-First clean and dry the area well
-Application of antibiotic ointment like fusiderm with hydrocortisone ointment thrice for 3 days for the infection and itching.
-Antihistaminics like cetrizine once a day for 3 days.
-Avoid touching the area with unclean hands.
-If the lesion doesnot resolve in 3-4 days, visit to physician.
Oral antibiotics like cipro/cephalexin may be needed for 5-7 days.Oral steroids may be given for persistent itching.
Also blood glucose testing will be necessary to rule out diabetes.

Hope this information helps.
