Hello,

Infection of the ear piercing can be due to wearing earrings made of metals that are not inert in nature. Such metals decompose when exposed to air, water and can release decomposition products that can cause allergic reaction and infection. So, first of all,
-She should not wear earrings until the infection gets healed.
-Clean the ear piercing site with betadine solution and apply antiseptic ointment over it.
-Do cool compresses.
Once it heals, she should wear earrings made of inert material like gold or plastic.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Honey Arora
