How Can Infection Around A Surgical Incision Site Be Treated?

husband had open heart surgery 4 months ago. incision broke open and now we keep it bandaged and packed with gauge because it is not healing. it has been trimmed out and still has the yellow look that doesn t wipe away. the incision is spread open about 3/4 gap. looks bad

Hello and thanks you for your query. I am Dr. Rommstein and I will try to help you as much as I can with my answer.
This is obviously deep wound infection and in such cases health may be prolonged for even several weeks and months. If there is constant secretion,swab bacterial microbiological test should be taken to isolate exact bacteria and then antibiotics can be started. Also,it would be good to apply granuflex compresses on it or aquacel.
