How Can Infertility Be Treated?

I have been having regular period but missed my period this month by 6 days. I have started doing opk this month, no positive result. Me and my husband, we are planning on having a baby doc advised me to take sandoz regestrone for 5 days, she told me i should be getting my period after the completion. And after getting period i have been advised to take clofert from day 3 to 7. Will this help me in getting pregnant? How should i determine ovulation day? Both me and my husband have demanding jobs and we have to tour a lot. We have missed ovulation day for this and we want to have a baby. Please help

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Thank you for your query.

Trying to conceive can be an exciting and demanding journey.

I recommend :
- an OBGYN consult to check if everything's alright
- an ultrasound abdomen to rule out cysts
-blood tests (complete blood count, Thyroid stimulating hormone, free t3 and t4, prolactin levels, antimullerian hormone
-once your period have regularized, and your cycle is about 28-30days, start opk monitoring from day 8.
Basal body temperature monitoring is also very useful (if done right) to pinpoint day of ovulation. You would need to do this a couple of months though to detect ovulation as you temperature rises after ovulation and is not a predictive test like the opk.
Travel and night time waking may alter readings but is worth a try.
-on the other a follicular study can help you better. You would have to go for regular scans to check the number of follicles and detect its growth and possible ovulation time.
-regular intercourse (every alternate day) will help.
The day of ovulation and the three days prior to that are your most fertile days (high likelihood of pregnancy if intercourse is time in this period).
-a folic acid supplement daily from now.
-a healthy mind and body favors a pregnancy so try not to be too stressed and get enough rest and nutrition.
-semen analysis for your husband.

Missing a period occasionally is normal. This could be due to functional ovarian cysts (benign cysts that resolve themselves in 2-3 months), stress, illness, travel across time zones, sudden weight changes and major lifestyle changes.

Clofert increases the number of eggs released each month. This consequently increases your chances of pregnancy and possibility of multiple pregnancy (twins or triplets).

If your periods are regular use the opk and basal body temperature monitoring (mentioned above to time intercourse).
Hope this helps and you conceive soon.
Wish you good health.
