How Can Inflammation And Fracture On The Ribs Treated?

My 16 year old son was diagnosed with inflamed and possibly fractured rib cartilage a week ago. He has been taking 500 mg naproxen twice daily for 8 days now and has done no exerting exercise. He is not getting better. Still very sore. Any helpful suggestions?

Hello,
Thank you for trusting HealthcareMagic for your health concern

It will take 6-8 weeks for bruised or fractured rib to heal completely.Pain may persist until the bone completely heals. If naproxen alone is not effective, Tramadol can be used for added pain relief. You can also apply ice on the area of pain.

Hope this answers your questions
