How Can Insect Bites On The Skin Be Treated?

Ok, I ve been fighting an infestation of very tiny bugs in my bed, in my hair, and all over my body. I have been bitten on my joints, mostly. Some of the bites swell rather badly, like on on my elbow. Most are very small and not problematic. Sometimes they seem to burrow into my skin, with a lot of irritation to me, and soon afterwards little itches spread from that area. I have caught what I think are the culprits on some clear packing tape. Under bright light they show up as white things. some seem to be in a larval state, and some seem to have legs. Even with a good magnifying glass, I can t make much out. I need a scope. They are not bothered by hot dryer temperatures. What am I dealing with and how do I kill them?

Hello and welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

It seems like you have scabies infection where the mites dig burrows in certain parts of the bodies like web spaces of fingers, wrists to name a few. Treatment includes application of antiscabies cream on the whole body below neck and leave it on for at least 10-12 hours. You might have to repeat the application. It is recommended that all the members of the family do this treatment simultaneously as it is spread with close contact. The clothes and bed linen has to washed in hot water.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
