Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
How Can Insomnia Be Treated While Suffering From Anxiety?
I take Celexa for anxiety and depression, Gabapentin for neurodermatitis. I cannot sleep for the life of me. This has been ongoing for months-- cannot fall asleep until two or three a.m. and sleep in through alarm clocks. I also use a CPap for sleep apnea. What would you recommend so that I can fall asleep at night?
Hi, I had gone through your question and understand your concerns.
You should try with some bihevioral methods first. Treatment options include behavior and lifestyle changes, medicines, and complementary medicines. Relaxation exercises, such as progressive muscle relaxation or meditation may help you to relax and fall a sleep easier. Medications are usually also required and there are several options but most efficient are Zolpidem and lorazepam. Antihistamines and antidepressant are less commonly used. If there will be no improvement then you need to do EEG and nocturnal brain testing in specailized clinics to see if there is some deeper issue causing all this.
Hope this answers your question. If you have additional questions or follow up questions then please do not hesitate in writing to us. I will be happy to answer your questions.
Wishing you good health.
