How Can Intestinal Pin Worm Infestation In A Child Be Treated?

My daughter 5 years old and I seem to be infested with pinworms. My daughter just passed alot of them through her urinary tract, screaming in pain. We are on our fourth dose of Reeses pinworm medicine as the antibiotic flush is not covered by medicaid and its 1200 for 6 pills. I have marks on my back hands arms and face, that have not been self inflicted. I have gone through 3 periods and each time i have taken pictures of there presence. I have so many pictures. I would like to know if i can do anything else to help my daughter and I especially with the urinary tract pain and discomfort. I believe considering my symptoms including the possibility of them being in my fallopian tubes. I have a pre existing kidney reflux condition that keeps me in pain so my tolerance is high. Please help me determine my coarse of action. I have no insurance and my daughter is on medicaid. Thank you so much Thally

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Thanks for your query on HCM

"As"per your clinical history is concerned please follow like this -

Discuss with your treating Doctor about [Albendazole]tabs to every family member including kids and repeat after 15 days.

Do take few preventive steps like this -

1)Try to wash in the morning. Because pin worms lay their eggs at night, washing the anal area in the morning can help reduce the number of pin worm eggs on your body. Showering may help avoid possible re contamination in bath water.

2)Try to change underwear and bed linen daily. This helps remove eggs.
Launder in hot water. Wash bed sheets, nightclothes, underwear, washcloths and towels in hot water to help kill pin worm eggs. Dry on high heat.

3)Try to avoid scratching the anal area. Trim your child's fingernails so there's less space for eggs to collect. Discourage nail-biting.

4)Try to wash your hands. To reduce your risk of getting or spreading an infection, wash your hands thoroughly after having a bowel movement or changing a diaper and before eating. Use alcohol based hand sanitizer.

Hope that helps
