How Can Irregular Periods Be Treated?

Hi, i use postinor 2 and it makes me have irregular periods so i stopped using but my period is still irregular it could come this month and wld be a no show the next month i visited a gyn and she prescribed birth control pills to regulate my hormones it worked for a while but after some months it became irregular again what could be the cause? Thank you
