How Can Irregular Periods Be Treated?

Hi, I am just a little worried, I am 39 years old and at the end of last year I had no periods for two months and I was always regular, 28 day cycle, I have smears every two years, and I notice when I was not having sex due to a breakup, my periods god a bit irregular, plus I was diagnosed with Epilepsy in 2013 and I am taking a mild dose 250mg twice daily of Keppra.. I feel very stressed in the last year due to multiple things happening in my life. I was seeing someone for the first time in 3 years and we had sex a few times, early this year, then my period was two months late and then it came back again regular.... and last week I got my period on the 23 August and I am still slightly spotting, 9 days later, and I am so tired!? I know I must have a smear Immediately but I have to wait for the right time of cycle etc..... Help as I am very worried.....

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

It is possible that you are perimenopausal. This refers to the time before the period stops completely (menopause) and it can last weeks to years.

The time for perimenopause varies from one person to the next.

During this time, the period change. It can become irregular, change in its frequency or intensity.

I hope this helps
