How Can Itchy Bumps On The Wrist And Upper Arm Be Treated?

I have an itchy rash (series of small bumps) on my left wrist and upper arm, and a smaller section of similar looking itchy bumps on my left wrist. I suspect some sort of poison plant as I have been weeding in my yard recently. The rash itches terribly and keeps me awake or awakens me at night. I ve tried cortisone cream 2.5% as prescribed by my doctor for another issue, but it doesn t relieve the itching. Would calamine lotion or another OTC treatment likely be may more effective? I have put bandaids over the rash bumps to help me avoid scratching them open.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
hello,
welcome to HCM and i am Dr. Nirav.
I have gone through your queries.
first i would like to tell you that 2.5% cortisone cream will not help you to relieve itching.
you should take tablet chlorpheniramine or tablet cetrizine for your itching.

and you can also take calamine lotion for itching that will sooth your skin.

Have a better health.
