How Can Joint Pain And Fatige Be Treated?

I had RF as a child , took penicillin shots for about 2 weeks and as a teen a doctor told me that I should be taking those shots monthly I never did... Now I m 50, I am having joint pains, I m getting tired easily and have been logging my blood pressure which has been high 15,18 or 20. I am wondering is it too late to go back to the monthly bicillin shots or since I m now 50 it would not make a difference?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

It is important to have a check with the doctor to determine the cause of your joint pains. Very likely you are having ostheoarthritis, which is arthritis with age and very common after 40 years of age. In this case, penicillin injections will not be beneficial.

You will also need to have proper checks for your blood pressure. A heart examination with ultrasound and ECG and also some blood tests such as CBC, ERS, creatinine and electrolytes, liver function tests, lipids, fasting sugar and urinalysis may be needed as well.

I hope this answers your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
