General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Vitamin D and calcium are supplements mostly recommended for women entering the menopause or in menopause to help their bones be healthier. This is due to the risk for ostheoporosis which is "thinning" of the bones and risk for fracture due to reduced estrogens in these women.
In men this is not the case, they are generally not at risk for ostheoporosis and they don't need to use vitamin D regularly as women do.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
