Doubting of kidney stone, when I did a USG whole abdomen scan,i came to know that my right kidney is grossly contracted measuring 5.7 cm-2.9 cm.with the radiologist noting it as corticomedullary differentiation is lost & chronic renal parenchymal disease.the radiologist guess that may be I am having this contracted kidney from my childhood.i am 39 years now,but till date I have not had any serious health complications.just now that I am diagnosed with stones in my left kidney which has made its way to the distal ureter.is there any remedy for my right kidney disorder or else will I be able to continue with the left functional kidney as I have been for so many years without.complications in future.the left kidney size is 14.5 cm ×8.4.cm.
Yes, one normal kidney can function well for life if it remains functional. The right kidney seems to out of order and may not be revived however the left kidney may well suffice for you if you take care of that. The stones in the left kidney should be urgently taken care of.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr Mahboob Ur Rahman , General & Family Physician
