How Can Kidney Dysfunction Be Treated?

My mother has been given morphine as she had a fall and toxins are in her system. Kidneys are not functioning well, virtually stopped, and she has been asleep all day in hospital. She is 90 years old and we have been told to expect the inevitable that she will pass away. Is this the likely outcome?

Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic.
I can understand your concern.
If you want to go aggressive in the treatment then dialysis is the treatment of choice for end stage kidney damage.
In old age, most of patients need regular life long dialysis.
This is very painful for patients as well as family members.
Even after regular dialysis, life expectancy is almost 6-7 months.
So if family wants peaceful death then better not to go for dialysis and accept the inevitable.
Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wishing good health to your mother. Thanks.
