How Can Knee Pain Be Treated?

About 5 months ago my knee started hurting so bad I could not even go up or down stairs. He said I do not have much of a knee cap left and gave me a steroid shot that helped for bout a week. Now my hip on the same side hurts so bad it is hard for me to get up , walk and I cannot lay on it. I am 62 and do not want this to affect me enjoying my grandchildren. What do you suggest?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

I can suggest you take anti-inflammatory drugs such as advil or naproxen for pain.
You can have corticosteroid shot or hyaluronic acid Injections.
The last option can be a prosthetic replacement.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Olgeta Xhufka, General & Family Physician
