How Can Knee Pain Be Treated?

My wife was suffering from Knee Pain. She is a bit better now. But in recent CRP test found the level is higher 9.6. Doctor reffered to take SAAZ 500 once daily for 30 days though RA test is negative. We found that SAAZ 500 is treatment for R. Arthritis. Which is negative for her. Little confused over this drug .plz suggest.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Rheumatoid arthritis can happen in few cases even though the rheumatoid factor is negative. Actually cases of rheumatoid arthritis with lack of rheumatoid factor have the worse prognosis and tend to progress faster.
On the other hand rheumatoid arthritis is suspected if certain clinical features are present. The knee should have local heat, swelling and redness which are signs of inflammation. If the painful knee did not have signs or inflammation it is unlikely it is rheumatoid arthritis. Also even though the knee can be affected in rheumatoid arthritis it mostly affects the small joints in the hands both sides (it is generally symmetrical).

I hope I have answered to your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
