How Can Knee Sprain Caused Due To Injury Be Treated?

Think I sprained the right side (just below the knee). very difficult to walk, cannot put weight on right leg without pain. Pain is not sharp; just bad enough that I cannot walk. been putting ice on it 1 once every hour and just started using heat. Am I doing the right thing? Do I need to do anything else. (playing raquate ball and sudden movement caused me to collaspe to floor).

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

* As per my clinical experience, over and above icing with heat application on alternate basis,

- local application of analgesic spray or ointment containing diclofenac, menthol, linseed oil or else

- gradual movements with avoidance of excess , sudden, jerky movements

* Wait for 24 hours about the progress of the condition and later on if required consult immediately with your doc as there may be ligament tear inside with meniscus injury which may require an MRI as well.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
