Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
a dr told me from an ultra sound of my heart that I have a weak heart and 2 leaky valves, and I have a pacemaker for the last 8 years and hadn t had any problems, did notice a shortage of breathe, is why the dr wanted an ultra sound, and also a stress test, started changing my meds and I was shorter on breathe than I had been before, how can I strengthen the heart and the leaky valves
Treatment and management of leaky valves depend on the severity of the leakage and the symptoms. To be honest, there is no definitive treatment of the leakage of the valves other than surgery that is either repair or replacement of the valve. However, all leaky valve does not need surgery and we only recommend surgery if there is severe leaking and the patient has symptoms. So I am afraid that drugs may help your symptoms but do not improve the leaking valve. Surgery, however, may offer best results.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Mahboob Ur Rahman, General & Family Physician
