How Can Leg Nerve Burning Pain Be Relieved?

I have had polio 3 times , once was from a bad batch of vaccine. Now 58 years later I am having sever nerve pain in the right leg. I have only one nerve left to support this leg. Is there anything that will help relieve the buring, stabbing pain of an angry nerve?
