How Can Leg Swelling With Bruising And Pain Be Treated?

Two nights ago I was hit squarely in the shin with a line drive during a softball game. We play premiere softball and I was pitching at about 45 feet from the plate. There is a bruise but it is faint and more red than anything else, but my leg has swelled significantly. Over the past two days the pain has increased during walking and resting and there is tremendous tightness in my calf. Is it worth getting checked out or will ice and elevation be enough?
