How Can Lichen Sclerosus Be Treated?

Hello, I developed Lichen Sclerosus about three years ago, and have been treating it with the topical Clobetasol and once a year with an antibotic internal cream which has worked very well. My question is, in between these episodes when the area starts to itch on the outside i use the Clobetasol, but right at the opening of the vaginal area on the inside i get a couple of little white bumps that almost look like blisters and want to know if it will be ok to use the topical cream in that area even if it gets on the inside alittle bit? The itching is horrible and that is the only thing that stops it. I go for my yearly in feb. and will also show him, but was also wanting to hear another opinion. Is it normal for sex to be painful from entry to about three inches up into the inside of the vaginal canal?

I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

There are reams available which can be applied topically over the skin and also vaginal mucous membrane. Consult your doctor and get the right cream which you can apply inside vagina also. Clobetasol is a mild steroid. I feel it is fine, you can apply it. Sex will be painful when you are having blisters in the vaginal area. Once you are considerably cured, sex will be normal as usual. Patches of the genital skin should be treated, even if they aren't painful or itchy. These patches can scar, causing problems with urination or sex. There is also a very small chance that skin cancer may develop in the patches. You should see your doctor every six to 12 months in order to follow and treat any skin changes. Possible treatments for the disease include: Ointments and creams, which can help with itching and to keep the disease from coming back.
