How Can Lip Dryness With Sores Be Treated?

My upper lip is extremely dry especially in the morning. I have used Aquaphor and A&D ointment to bring back its moisture. It started when I got pregnant. What could it be? Its been almost a year now. I am guilty of picking at the flakes and causing little open scratch sores that are usually healed my the next morning when I use the Aquaphor and A&D ointment! HELP!!
