How Can Lower Backache And Pain In The Hips Be Treated?

I️ have lower back pain, moderate to severe with pain in my hips and down the front of my legs. It can be on both sides, but primarily on the left. It came on suddenly 4 days ago not as a result of exertion. It is worse at night When I️ am lying down. Should I️ see a doctor, or just give it time?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

By your history and description, possibility of sciatica (compression of sciatic nerve) ise more likely.
So better to consult orthopedic doctor and get done clinical examination and MRI of lumber spine.
If compression is mild then physiotherapy, weight loss, avoidance of squatting, ice pack application etc are beneficial.
But if compression is moderate or severe then you may need surgical correction.
So consult orthopedic doctor and discuss all these.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
