How Can Lower Backache On The Left Side Be Treated?

I have pulled my back out of whack sitting in an old steel chair for 8 hours- it is getting better- right lower back now fine- but left side still hurts- how many advil can I take a day and what is a good exercise to strengthen the back- I sit 10 hrs a day a work which does not help
