Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am having evident blackness on the back of my hands, legs and a few streaks on my back. It started off on my hands first at age of 22. But neglected it thinking it to be just tanning. But later gradually it started to spread on hands above the knee area on my hands too. Consulted a doctor at the age of 26. He said its just tanning and prescribed melacare for ten days. Home remedies like fresh aIoevera gel and apple cider viniger didn t t work. I am 27 now. Inspite of wearing only full hand sleeves and fully covered dress, I started noticing darkness on my legs too. When consulted a another dermatologist, they called it macular amyloidosis. They have prescribed whitening, bleaching, AW & Vita derm creams for two months. Is there any permanent solution for this or is it a chronic disease for which i have to keep applying creams life long.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Aggressive strategies proposed for the removal of Amyloid include laser vaporization, dermabrasion, and excision of individual lesions. However, lesions and pruritus usually promptly recur after these treatments. Electrodessication and curettage provided an acceptable result in one report.
Hope I have answered your query.
