How Can Malnutrition Along With High BP And Palpitations Be Treated?
I have a patient who is severely malnourished. She claims she has a desire to eat and get her weight up but doesn t eat and doesn t follow medications regiment for symptoms of diarrhea and nausea. She has a very erratic BP and palpitations. She is weak and anxious. She states she did not intend to lose weight but it was a result of a UTI that was missed diagnosed and went into a kidney infection. She is very anxious and I suspect suffers from PTSD as well. Treatment guidelines?
noted your current presentation. further evaluation needed. Weight loss maybe due to gastrointestinal disorder (decrease appetite) OR maybe due to hyperfunctioning of thyroid gland ( weight loss, high BP and palpitation , anxiety point towards increased thyroid hormones)
kindly have following tests done
1. Blood routine 2, stool test and Fecal Occult blood test 3. Thyroid profile 4. Liver function test
further course of action maybe suggested after results of aforementioned test are obtained.
hope to answer your concern. wish you good and sound health. regards, Dr Tayyab Malik
