How Can Memory Loss Be Treated?

Hey. I have a terrible memory I m afraid its due to the fact that I tend to suppress things like certain emotions, memories, etc. A huge chunk of my past is completely missing and non existent. I want to recall these suppressed memories. I have no idea where to start or how to go about that. That s why I d really appreciate your help.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Memory Loss occurs may be due to many causes like nutritional deficiency of vitamin B12 or thiamine, alcohol intake, major depression, anemia, stroke, epilepsy, Normal pressure hydrocephalus (NPH), Alzheimer's disease, and Parkinsonism etcetera.

Until examination is done, it is difficult to say what it is. Please consult your neuro physician so that he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu
