How Can Menstrual Cramps Be Treated?

My mom and I have a lot of the same symptoms with our periods. Extremely heavy cramping etc. We are blood clot pron and many years ago they gave my mom a prescription to stop her periods and she thought it sounded like premier and she did fine with it. Then they decided to give her sounded like promo she knows it ended with an o and gave her a blood clot. we are 1 in 1000 that can not take birth control but I can not convince a Doctor to believe me( I changed birth control pills 5 times before ending up in ER with a starting of a blood clot and a doctor told me to get off birth control and never take them again) I can not afford health insurance and I have an enlarged uterus and I am in a lot of pain and would like to try and stop my periods. I am 51 and my mom stopped her periods around this time. Do you know what these perscriptions sound like so I can research them? THANK YOU !!!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Dear patient,
I understand the agony of the pain and the difficulty of your situation.
Of course birth control pills cannot be prescibed in your case since there is a clear contraindication.
However since you are 51 years of age and your mother got into a menopause around this age then a bridge using decapeptyl is a good idea to stop your menses.
It is given once every 3 months and can be repeated as needed, the dose is 11.25 mg intramuscularly.
This medication does not increase your thrombosis risk (blood clotting).
Best regards
