How Can Metallic Taste In Mouth Caused After A Dental Procedure Be Treated?

i recently in the last 2 months had a broken tooth that i needed a crown. i had the temporary crown put in and about 4 to 5 days started experiencing a metal salty taste in my mouth. the dentist said that it might be the adhesive for the temporary crown and that when the perm. one was put in it should go away. it never has. then he said it might be my medication which is celexa. i have since went off of it and it has been at least a month and a half and the taste has not gone away. i'm at my wits end. what should i do.

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain metallic taste in mouth after placement of temporary crown that is lasting since 2 months is not due to the adhesive used in sticking the crown while it can be due to causes like any tooth or gum related infections, side effects of medication like Celexa can be a cause but as you are off it since more than a month, this cause also gets excluded..
It can be due to causes like dry mouth, post nasal drip, acid reflux, respiratory infections etc..

Consult a Physician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical examination and investigations as per suspected cause can help in diagnosis and treated accordingly..

As of now you can gargle with flavoured antiseptic mouthwash containing Lignocaine..
Chew flavoured sugarfree chewing gums..
Drink plenty of water..

Once the cause is diagnosed, treatment of the same will help in resolving the symptoms..

Hope this information helps..

Regards.
