How Can Mold In The Lungs Be Treated?

I have been told I have mold in my left lung, showed up in a PET about the size of a nickel. I am being treated by an Infectous Disease Doctor at Moffitt Cancer Center, Tampa Florida. I am taking Voriconazole every 12 hours for 3 months. I asked Doctor how I might have gotten this and his answer was probably too much radiation . I am a 2 X Cancer survivor. Once I have finished this medication, middle of Sept. I am to return and have a CT to see if the mold is gone? Can you make any suggestions? I do not like the demeanor of this Doctor at all and intend to report him for his rudeness once this issue is resolved.

Hi,

The mold is a kind of fungal infection and cancer patients are immunocompromised and more prone to develop these kind of molds.
You can continue Voriconazole and followup CT scan will be better to assess the progress. Unfortunately it takes long time for completer resolution.

Hope I have answered your query.
