How Can Mouth Ulcers Be Treated?

I have diabetes and take medications for multiple diseases. I have already lost my teeth and have duodenum ulcers. My dentures are constantly needing realigning and I keep getting ulcers on the tip. and underside of my tongue. If I brush my tongue regularly I get thrush. I'm deficient vitamin B12 and have very high cholesterol. I take all my medications yet suffer a consideral amount of time with mouth issues. I don't know where to begin to get my mouth under control because I have hypothyroidism and two goiters that make swollowing meat impossible. So many issues and I'm sick of thrush and or mouth ulcers. What should I do for my mouth, I'm miserable cant eat sleep yet drained and don't know what to do.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Mouth ulcers can occur due to a number of causes and Vitamin B 12 deficiency is a most common cause for it. If you are deficient already then it can be a cause.

If you are diabetic and suffer from dry mouth then it can cause mouth ulcers as well as thrush. Side effects of medication and hormonal imbalances is also a cause.

So, my suggestion is to start taking vitamin B complex supplement and initially you might need injectable if levels are too low. Also, take Lysine supplements. You can start gargling with specialized mouthwash like Magic mouthwash. You can gargle with soda bicarb solutions in water. Gargling with 1:1 solution of Milk of Magnesia and Benadryl.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Honey Arora
