How Can Nasal Congestion, Sore Throat And Hoarseness Be Treated?

4 weeks ago I started with nasal congestion, sore throat and hoarseness. The sore throat went away and my voice came back, but my sinus were full and my ear felt plugged. I was put on Augmenten and 40 mg Prednisone for 5 days. The sinu/ear congestion cleared up. I have two days left of Augmenten, but now I have a productive cough. I am wheezing and very congested. I went back to Nurse Practitioner today. He told me to take Claritin daily.

Hi,

It’s due to upper respiratory tract infection probably pharyngitis (a sore throat). It is nothing but a kind of inflammation or infection of your throat. You can start a short course of antibiotics for five days preferably Moxclav.

You can also take analgesics like Acetaminophen for fever and pain. Do steam inhalation and nasal decongestant drops to open up blocked nostrils. Generally, it will settle in clog days without complications.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
