Thank you, my son, 25, called complaining of neuralgia , he has had it before from allergies, gets this About once every 4 months and lasts a couple of days. Should he take a particular allergy medication, What type of pain medication would be most effective. Thank you Linda tarr
Thanks for your query. I have gone through your query. The neuralgia cannot be because of the allergic reaction. Consult a general physician and get it evaluated. If it is a neuralgia, it can be treated with carbamazepine which is most effective in reducing pain. But the cause has to be found out by doing an MRI scan. Once the cause is found out, it can be treated accordingly with surgery. I hope I have answered your question.Take care.
