Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am 95 years old, female. Have neuropathy both legs, not diabetic. Left thigh bone/left hip bone - bone on bone, no cartilage at all. Caves in and hurts like crazy if I put any weight on it. Had pain-prevention shots in my left hip - did not work. Now in a wheelchair, stand with difficulty but cannot walk on one leg. Walk sitting in the wheelchair. Question: Read the article about walking, not sitting. Am not ready to go just yet. Does walking while sitting in the wheelchair count as walking? People tell me to get a motorized chair but I want to keep the legs moving. Your opinion, please. Thank you for your response. Email: YYYY@YYYY DID NOT KNOW THERE WAS A CHARGE. DO NOT WANT TO PAY ANYTHING FOR AN UNSEEN OPINION. SEE MY OWN DOCTOR FREQUENTLY AND HAVE FAITH IN HER ADICE.
You are 95 years of age, and it is important that you do as much exercise to your lower limbs as is possible. In this respect, it is good to do walking while in a wheel chair, than to use a motorized chair. regarding the nephropathy discomfort you are having in you lower limbs, there are medications like capsule Pregabalin, which your doctor can assess your condition and determine the dosage of the medication. This would to a good extent relieve you of the neuropathic parasthesia.
