How Can Numbness And Tingling Sensation In The Legs Be Treated?

I am having trouble sleeping. When I finally fall asleep, I am keeping my feet moving because I have numbness and tingling sensation in my legs/calves; the bottom of my feet and toes and my arms/tricep and bicep and fingers. Many mornings, I wake up and my the pinky and ring finger on one or both hands feel asleep and I have to shake them in order to get blood flow back to them. One time I woke up and my entire left arm was asleep no blood flow. I had to shake it to get the blood flowing to it again. I have been under a lot of stress lately at work for the last 2 weeks. I work in IT. I ve been called late at night and have had to get up early in the morning and I m getting even less sleep. My symptoms got worse during this time. My left side was really numb and tingling...my arm and leg and feet. My upper left chest, I felt discomfort and couldnt sleep. When I sit down during the day, my lower thighs and buttocks feel numb so I have to stand. If feels like blood circulation is cut off. At night when I sit in the bed, I feel like blood circulation is low to my feet and legs. During the day my legs feel heavy.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

This indicates peripheral nephropathy which is a result of damage to your peripheral nerves, often causes weakness, numbness and pain, usually in your hands and feet. It can also affect other areas of your body.Treatment actually depends on the right cause. Most common causes are diabetes, alcoholism, inherited disorders or trauma and medications however, many other causes may be seen so tests are required to identify the right one. Till that you can do some general remedies: Avoid factors that may cause nerve damage, including repetitive motions, cramped positions, exposure to toxic chemicals, smoking and overindulging in alcohol. Also take vitamin D supplements and regulate blood sugar levels.

Hope I have answered your query.
