How Can Numbness In The Thumb Be Treated And Cured After Eating Weed?

My son has a job weed eating for park department. This is his first job and works several hours a day weed eating. When he comes home his thumb is partially numb for days. Is there something you could suggest to prevent this from continuing. Thank you.
