How Can Numbness On The Feet Be Treated?

1983-fall from about 20 feet. Landed on feet. Crushed two vertebrae. Harrington rods put into place on both sides of spine. 6 months later they were to come out but one had fused into bone and was left in. Fast forward to 2005 when feet started to become numb. Now both feet are completely numb 24/7. Chronic constipation also an issue. Very high fiber diet along with Dulcolax, Senekot, Restorolax, Colace and Magnesium Citrate needed in order to defecate once evry 3 days. Any hope for change in your opinion or is this just the way it is from now on ?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi and welcome to Healthcaremagic. Thank you for your query. I am Dr. Rommstein, I understand your concerns and I will try to help you as much as I can.
There are a variety of reasons people could experience numb or tingling feet and legs and fibromyalgia is one of this and most common.
Other conditions include multiple sclerosis, diabetes, tarsal tunnel syndrome, peripheral artery disease, and having too much pressure on the nerves. Treatment can be started when the right cause is found. In your case, symptoms indicate that it could be neuropathy or fibromyalgia. I would suggest to do Doppler ultrasound and EMG for a start. Till that check your blood sugar and calcium levels since these causes may lead to numbness as well. Though occasional numbness can occur, persistent numbness and tingling can be an indication of a serious underlying medical problem.
I hope I have answered you query. If you have any further questions you can contact us in every time.
Kindly regards. Wish you a good health.
